SEURAT & SIGNAC POST-IMPRESSIONISM
A French painter and one of the icons of 19th century painting, Georges-Pierre Seurat was born into a wealthy family in Paris in 1859. In 1884 Seurat's first large painting was rejected by the Paris Salon, he then, with the independent artists of Paris formed the Socit des Artistes Indpendants. It was there that he met Paul Signac with whom he soon became close friends. Seurat shared his new ideas about pointillism with Signac, who soon adopted it and painted in the same idiom...
